Come celebrate and tour the new community in Lafayette, the site of my mural “Bird City”

Boulder County, Colo. – Boulder County community members are invited to join the grand opening celebration for Phase 1 of Willoughby Corner on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 4-6 p.m. The event will highlight the vibrant new community in Lafayette, which still has a limited number of below-market-rate homes available for rent. 

Developed by the Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA), Willoughby Corner offers high-quality rental homes for households earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). That’s about $72,000 for a two-person household or $90,000 for a four-person household. 

“Willoughby Corner is more than housing — it’s a place where neighbors can connect, families can thrive, and all residents have access to great schools, transportation, and community resources,” said Susana Lopez Baker, Boulder County Housing Director and BCHA Executive Director. “With only a few homes still available, now is the perfect time to apply and join this growing community.” 

The celebration will feature opening remarks from local and state leaders, a ribbon cutting, live music, food trucks, community partner booths, and activities for all ages. Tours of the community will be available in English and Spanish.

• 4:15-4:45 p.m.: Opening remarks 

• 4:45 p.m.: Ribbon cutting 

• 5:10-5:40 p.m.: Tours (every 10 minutes) 

Where: Willoughby Corner Community Center, 933 Canterbury Drive, Lafayette, CO

Details: Parking is limited. The Community Center parking lot will be closed for activities; please carpool, take the bus (225 or DASH), or park along Canterbury Drive where space is available.
