Three-dimensional assemblage collages in minerals and found objects
Artist Bio:
On the way to being an artist, Dena Zocher pursued a diverse career: performance artist, cellist, cleaning lady, car mechanic, corporate flak, goddess, unknown legend of rock ‘n’ roll. Her background includes esoteric studies in England and Ireland, independent scholar of comparative religion and art history, 3/5 of a music performance degree, and a B.S. in Business. With her assemblage pieces, she calls on these experiences to bring us rare gifts of nature and spirit.
Artist statement:
Creating and making are beautiful acts of power; following these impulses has enriched my life at every step. Assemblage is my medium of choice: I love making new things using old things, considering the possibilities in found objects and random items. My work juxtaposes natural materials and found objects to convey timeless narratives that recall our primordial connection to the natural world. The process of gathering materials and building the assemblages calls on all of my lived experience, informed by the artists and creators who inspire me and expand my world.
